Last Friday I had the opportunity to take a close look at the Polestar 2 fully-electric car. Polestar is a company jointly owned with Volvo and Geely (which owns Volvo). Polestar is also the performance arm of Volvo like AMG is to Mercedes.
My first impressions about the cars is that, first, it is a very beautiful car. I think Volvo's as a rule are all very well designed. The design of the Polestar comes from Volvo. The CEO of Polestar was a car designer at Volvo and had some designs that were never built, When he became CEO of Volvo, he brought his old designs to Polestar and this is what we are now looking at.
Secondly, the Polestar 2 is not a big car. It looks big on the outside but inside, it is quite cramped. When sitting in the back, my head was close to ceiling and my knees were touching the driver's seat.
Thirdly, we sit very low. I am not sure if it was a problem with the driver's seat that maybe could not be adjusted but I thought the dash was very high, too high for my taste.
Fourthly, the frunk is a little bit small. I think they made a frunk to be able to say that they have one but it is so small that it is almost unusable.
I had the opportunity to play with the touchscreen. I thought it was a pretty attractive way to control the car. Here is a video I shot going through all its functions.
