Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) to cease the development on Internal Combustion Engines

Daimler, the oldest car manufacturer has decided to stop the investing money in improving its internal combustion engines. All the Mercedes gas cars have recently undergone a major refresh and Mercedes is deciding to take a pause from investing more time and money on these gas engines, preferring instead to shift their investment into electric motors and batteries.

This is the first major shift from a car manufacturer of this magnitude. I think this also officializes that we will all drive electric cars in the future, without question.

Tesla earns its first-ever safety award from IIHS for Model 3

The Model 3's structure held up well in one of the Institute's most challenging crash tests, the driver-side small overlap front test. Intrusion of 8 inches at the lower door-hinge pillar contributed to a moderate risk of injury to the driver's lower leg, as indicated by measures taken from the dummy. No other injury risk was recorded, and the front and side airbags and the seat belt worked well to control the dummy's movement during the crash.

The Model 3 is the second plug-in vehicle with no gas engine to earn the 2019 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award after the Audi e-tron, a large SUV.

Volkswagen's sub-£18,000 small EV due in 2023. I would be careful with these types of news. Gas cars manufacturers want to save face regarding Tesla Motors and the electrification of cars. They oftentimes promise cheap EVs with long ranges. It remains to be seen if they will deliver on their promises. Talk is cheap.

Our conclusion: competition in 2019 and likely 2020 is not a measurable threat to Tesla. The Model 3 is unchallenged in its EV value proposition.https://loupventures.com/new-ev-entrants-unlikely-to-threaten-model-3/
